Andy Roddick, a former American tennis player, recently watched videos of Carlos Alcaraz hitting the ball, describing such moments as encouraging.
“This is encouraging. We’re hearing a lot of stuff about The Open and the wrist. This is great to see,” Roddick said of the footage.
“We all want Carlos back. Tennis is better when Carlos is in it. That is encouraging."

I understand let’s take our time and let’s have caution and there has been too many cautionary tales with wrists, like Del Potro and Thiem. You don’t want to go down that route.”
The Spanish tennis player decided to not follow the examples of other tennis players who experienced serious problems due to a premature return. Andy Roddick believes that Carlos Alcaraz is doing the right thing.

Former world number one Andy Roddick has analyzed the months-long injury to Carlos Alcaraz's right wrist on his popular podcast "Served with Andy Roddick," offering both concerns and optimistic theories.
When the first photos of Alcaraz in a cast emerged in April after the Barcelona tournament, Roddick expressed serious concerns about the Spaniard. He said that a photo with a cast "is not something you want to see" just a month before Roland Garros.
However, Roddick also found a positive side to Alcaraz's transparency. He compared the Spaniard to Roger Federer, noting that Federer always hid his crutches in photos so the media wouldn't know the severity of his injury.
The fact that Alcaraz was casually photographed in a restaurant with a cast suggested to Roddick that it was likely a complete immobilization due to a minor irritation, or inflammation of the tendon sheath, rather than a "catastrophic rupture."
As time went on and Alcaraz missed Roland Garros and Wimbledon, Roddick admitted that the situation was becoming quite worrying for the rest of the season.
After more than three months away from the court, Alcaraz appeared at the World Cup final in New Jersey carrying the trophy, but still wearing a brace, or wrist guard, which worried fans. Roddick offered a very logical and reassuring explanation in the podcast.
In his opinion, the bandage could be a sign to people not to approach him or shake his hand. Roddick stated that in Alcaraz's place, in the midst of a large crowd, he would intentionally wear the protection as a visual marker. The goal is that people do not approach him and squeeze his injured right hand too strongly when greeting him.
Carlos Alcaraz's return is one of the main topics, but there are many unanswered questions. By all accounts, only Alcaraz and his team know the real truth and the date of his return, but it seems that sometimes it is difficult to conclude even for Alcaraz himself, given that injuries are mostly unpredictable.
